Suvana Coordination Group:
Terms of Reference

  1. The Group exists to bring Suvana Cohousing from the original vision to fruition (fruition being a built environment populated with a community grounded in Buddhist values and ethics)

  2. The Group will disband when a built environment starts to be populated. At this point a, yet to be designed, Suvana decision making & operating process, that involves all adult residents, will take over.

  3. The Group is made up of a small number of willing enthusiastic volunteer cocreators who are working hard to bring Suvana Cohousing to fruition. It comprises: some semi-permanent roles (such as: chair; treasurer; communications; membership) plus temporary working-groups to carry out specific tasks.

  4. Any cocreator can, and is encouraged to, observe the Suvana Coordination Group's regular weekly coordination meetings (in-person or online).

  5. After observing a few meetings, any cocreator can, and is encouraged to, join the Suvana Coordination Group. By attending the regular weekly coordination meeting (in-person or online) and volunteering to take on some of the work to bring Suvana Cohousing to fruition.

  6. We aspire to consensus decision making (and have resolved all issues that need a decision in this way so far) but recognise that a different kind of process may emerge as the coordination group and project develops.

  8. The meeting chair is rotated.

The Suvana cohousing project is managed by the Suvana Coordination Group, which was previously, and less accurately, known as 'The Committee'. The group has agreed the following terms of reference, which will be reviewed frequently as the project develops.
