Suvana Retreat, February 2027
Suvana cocreators have an exceptional opportunity to strengthen our connections with one another on a weekend retreat.
It will be at the much-loved Rivendell Retreat Centre in East Sussex, 12-14th February 2027.
The retreat is a precious chance, before we move into Suvana, to deepen the cocreation of our community.
We can practice sharing a harmonious living environment - cooking, eating and meditating together; enjoying sitting, walking and talking in the comfort of Rivendell and its beautiful gardens and surroundings. We also plan to include time for workshops, perhaps exploring our chosen decision making model Sociocracy.
The weekend will be flavoured and perfumed by Buddhist practice and ritual. Equally, the programme will actively welcome and include those who are not familiar with Buddhist practice - no previous retreat or meditation experience needed. Participate in as much or as little as feels right for you!
Details
Price: Maximum £200 per person, including meals, refreshments and all retreat activities.
The final cost may be lower, depending how many book and pay by the deadline.
Two concessionary places are available, maximum cost £100 on a first come, first served basis.
We’ll do our very best to accommodate specific accommodation requests, but most people will have to share with at least 1 other retreatant.
Travel: the nearest stations are Buxted and Uckfield (from London Bridge); alternatively, retreatants are encouraged to car share with one another.

Please commit to booking as soon as you can. Payment of 50% is due on booking, with the balance payable by the end of November.

Accounts Working Group
Maintain records of income and expenditure; creating accounts each year in a standard format; submitting accounts to government bodies if needed; reporting financial information at the AGM.

Common House Working Group
Advising TOWN and Hill on the community’s needs for the shared internal spaces, excluding the kitchen and arrangements for communal eating.

Facilitating Rental Properties Working Group
To create an organisation capable of owning and renting out property at Suvana.
Recruit investors for loanshare capital. Purchase properties at Suvana.
Working group still requires legal or financial expertise.
Service Charges Working Group
To calculate and maintain estimated service charges for each type of property, as charges and values become clearer.
Recommend for wider agreement, an equitable approach to spreading charges across different property types and household situations.

Communications Working Group
Develop and deliver communications that help bring Suvana Cohousing's inclusive and multi-generational community vision to fruition — attracting enough buyers and investors to make it a reality.

Red Line Working Group
Establish financial or practical implications on Suvana residents of the red lined areas on the overall site plan.
New members needed.
Communal Kitchen & Eating Arrangements Working Group
Brief TOWN and Hill on the community’s needs for the common house kitchen, and for communal eating arrangements in the social space and terrace.

Membership Working Group
Keep track of Suvana cocreators (joining, renewing, payments, intentions, withdrawing).
Maintain membership data, consistently across the applications used.

Practice & Social Events Working Group
Build community by formulating, supporting and guiding an ongoing programme of social events, online and in-person Buddhist / meditation practice events and rituals.
No new members needed at present.
TOWN Liaison Working Group
Handling attendance at meetings with TOWN and managing issues and decisions,

Joining Kula
Managing processes and making decisions around applications to live in the Suvana community, including property reservations.
This group consists of the five most experienced and willing members of the Coordination Group, and is not currently inviting new members.
